Jessica Buscombe, Dental Surgery Assistant
Dental Background
My first taste of working in a dental practice started as a receptionist in a sedation clinic that specialised in treating nervous patients. Having seen first-hand what a difference caring, and kind dental care can make to patients inspired me to become more involved.
I started at Truro Dental Care in November 2011 on my return to living in Cornwall working on reception and nursing with the hygienists. In January 2012 I then became Dr. Gillian Rainsberry’s nurse and undertook my dental nurse training, gaining my City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. Keen to expand my knowledge and skills I then went on to achieve my BDA qualification in Radiography in March 2018.
Working with Dr. Rainsberry is a rewarding challenge, especially during implant procedures. Dr. Rainsberry treats patients with a wide range of dental needs and therefore every day is different and interesting.
I am responsible for the ordering of equipment, the setting up of an aseptic surgical environment and assisting during the procedure itself.
When I am not working, I enjoy keeping active by running, swimming and doing yoga.

Specialities
After years of anxiously neglecting my teeth, I took the plunge to see Dr. Rainsberry. She’s very caring and compassionate, gentle and human! Does a great job – I have recommended the surgery to my support group for autistic people who also struggle in medical environments. I will be a repeat visitor until my teeth are at optimum.
Dr Martin Edwards is a brilliant a very patient dentist I would recommend him to anyone.

Great service new what I was going to pay and a great job done and great friendly service from the reception to the dentist and his nurse.
